F1 Silverstone - Camping...

Alright you lot;

 

I know a few of you are F1 buffs and some might have even been to the F1 GP at Silverstone and camped in the lively camping area.

If so, are campfires allowed?

 

Also, what else can I expect from the weekend? I have only been to day races before...

No problem with campfires or BBQ's but it DOES depend on the site - some do, some closer to track do not. Common sense must be used though.

 

What can you expect? Great atmosphere regardless of weather or conditions, plenty of entertainment from Friday through to deep into Sunday evening, access to a surprising amount of the circuit, plenty of like minded people to chat to and get to know, have a wander around the Village itself.

 

You will absolutely love it.

Sounds splendid. I shall be investing in waterproofs as it's summer so I can enjoy the beer and race from wherever.

Went last year, didn't have any trouble with disposable bbq's or a small gas cooker we took.

 

Just take a brolley, got absolutely drenched

Tip: Primark Golfing Jacket/Trousers, rolls up really small and light, looks smart without looking like a twit and only costs around £25

I'm talking about fire! Not just a bit of heat for a sausage, but something I can sit with a beer and stare into..

 

Oh, and looking at photo's (although not sure if they're of official campsite) - do you drive to a spot to camp, or is it like most other festivals where you park in a car park and have a 5 mile walk through an obstacle course to find a decent pitch?

Not sure about open fires - I don't recall seeing any so I'd guess it was in the rules somewhere. We were in an official campsite and you camp next to your car, 5-10min walk to the track or there are tractors with trailers + seating which provide lifts accompanied by bizzare music choices from their drivers.
