nyiss Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 Hey everyone. Really stupid question here but I am still new to RM and thought it best to ask than waste loads of time trying to figure it out. Basically I was asked to order a new laptop for one of our senior management from RM. Originally I was told that it needed to be the same set up as our other laptops so put in an order for a cc4 ready win XP laptop, pretty standard. However now that it is here I have been asked to set it up as an all singing all dancing laptop completely removed from our RM network -.- we have no windows discs here so my only options are to go ahead and let it build the same as all of our others and then find a way to run it as a stand alone or send it back and order what they want now that I know what that is. I guess my question is if I did want to remove it from all things RM how I would go about doing this without a rebuild with our own windows discs or if this is even feasible. A point in the right direction from someone with more experience with RM would be very much appreciated. Thank you.
Achandler Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 Honestly I don't think there is an easy way to do it. If you have an XP Pro license though, the you could jsut get hold of a copy of the generic disks and install it from scratch?

I guess I was hoping for a magical fix I had yet to come across but that would be far to easy thankyou for your help I will wave the white flag and send it back since they dont want to pay for the discs.

Achandler Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 You cna surely get an ,iso for XP pro fairly easily without paying for the discs. Schools on license agreements can get hold of it legitimately, though if your with RM then you won't have said agreement. Otherwise will your local LA not provide them, I know some LAs in the Northwest do the licensing very much centrally.
