arthur231283 Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 We have an exchange 2003 server and the clients are using outlook 2010 We have recently moved over to LGFL 2.0, since then we keep getting an autodiscover pop up box asking to connect to https://mail.lgflmail.org/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml Is there a way I can get outlook to ignore this particular autodiscover request?
sukh Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 Not too sure what LGFL 2.0 is? But are you sure you're connecting to 2003?
arthur231283 Posted April 16, 2012 Author Posted April 16, 2012 LGFL 2.0 is the London Grid for Learning. Synetrix had the contract to be the ISP for the LGFL but that contract ended and virgin media took it over. So we have now moved over from synetrix to virgin media. We have an exchange 2003 server on site so i'm sure we are connecting to that. I assume that there is an exchange 2007 server on the LGFL/virgin media network that out clients are picking the autodiscover settings up from. So effectively we are on a network with 2 exchange servers, one is exchange 2003 and the other is exchange 2007. I want our outlook clients to stop picking up the autodiscover settings from the 2007 server and only use the 2003 server on site.
sukh Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 What use is the 2007 server if the mailboxes are on 2003? Do you actually have connectivity to 2007, ie. can you confiure OLK with a mailbox on 2007 and use it? OLK uses autodiscover and get's this info from AD. I cant see how this is possible unless the 2007 & 2003 exch servers are installed in the same AD domain/Forest? Also, check to see in the OLF profile if the option to use Outlook Anywhere is slected or RPC/HTTP.
PiqueABoo Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 If outlook can't get autodiscover info from AD it will ask DNS where to go. Does an autodiscover.example.net DNS entry exist (replace "example.net" with your full domain - the bit to the right of the @ in mail addresses) and what does it point to?

It is picking up http://mail.lgflmail.org/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml which is not on my internal domain but is on the LGFL network. I have found that you get the message most if add a shared calendar or mailbox to outlook. I added these 2 reg keys and it seems to have stopped the messages appearing: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\AutoDiscover] "ExcludeSrvRecord"=dword:00000001 "ExcludeHttpsAutoDiscoverDomain"=dword:00000001
arthur231283 Posted April 16, 2012 Author Posted April 16, 2012 That shared calendar/mailbox, I assume is on 2003? yes they are
