Paper Cut & Live@Edu

Hi,

 

We have gone to Live@Edu for our email services. We also have Paper Cut MF which we would like to send email Print Notifications but keep getting a a error message.

 

"Error sending email: Authentication failed; nested exception is javax.mail.AuthenticationFailedException. Address: **EMAIL-ADDRESS**, subject: PaperCut Notification, error: Authentication failed; nested exception is javax.mail.AuthenticationFailedException"

 

I have put the SMTP settings in the config editor..

 

Please help.

The address you are trying to send from does exist in the Exchange server right? It gets very touchy about sending via SMTP from anything other than the default address of the authenticated user so if sending from [email protected] you should make sure that the smtp logon is [email protected] .

 

Have not used Live@EDU myself but its just exchange 2010 so the above should be correct.

 

Edit: Also try using a mail client on a PC just to test the account settings, that may provide a more useful error or at least isolate the issue further to the server/application.

 

Just a thought, has that port been opened out in the server firewall to allow the service through.

I have change it so its the same address it failed, so I changed it to my account and it worked.. The only difference is that the first account I tried was a "shared" account.. I take it that it matters.. Any Ideas.

Shared? It may depend on the permission group as to wheter it can send via SMTP or not.
