Fuzzy screen while on internet

We have a problem with a few of our computers, the screens go very fuzzy when on internet explorer, we have re-formatted these computers and also updated and also roll backed everything we could think of!!

Any chance anyone knows any reasons why this doing it? and also how to fix it?

Graphics driver ? - I'd update the graphics driver and also try another browser!

yes, tried updating graphics driver, also tried rolling it back, still to no effect, and can't use a different browser, as our learning gateway and some software on works on IE

It is the text in particular that's fuzzy? Internet Explorer enables ClearType font smoothing as of version 7 onward, independent of any system font smoothing settings. If the computer's monitor is not running at native resolution or with incorrect clock/phase (when using an analogue input), you'll get the monitor's own interpolation thrown into the mix, which will blur the text further. You can turn ClearType off in Internet Options > Advanced > Multimedia > Always use ClearType for HTML, or via a group policy (the specific policy is under User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Internet Explorer > Internet Control Panel > Advanced Page > Turn off ClearType).

It's not only the text, it's the full screen

are you sure it's not fuzzy all the time and IE just highlights the issue? Also can you screen shot the fuzz? If you were using old CRT monitors I'd say you had the brighness to high and you were overdriving the display. (which would be worst with lots of white on the screen.) Have you tried disabling automatic image re-sizing on the browsers. Apparently this can have some knock on effects.

 

You might also try dropping the "Screen Area or Resolution" in the browser settings to 800x600 as I've just been told that causes issues with some hardware on Win 7 too!

Hmmmm that's a good one but to me it looks as though the whole screen is fuzzy, look at the notification area looks fuzzy to me!

 

I wonder if its a dodgy graphics card / Motherboard issue - what Graphics card are you using and what Motherboards / PC's have you got ?

no, browser bars and the toolbar at the bottom is fine, just the whole internet screen (may look abit fuzzy everywhere else as I had to lower the size of the picture haha) it's a custom built computer using Amrock motherboards I think with integrated graphics card

 

and it doesn't matter what website I'm on, flash or not, still does this

Holy... O_O That is blurry! Repeating blocky artifacts like that scream "graphics card problem" to me, and the fact that it's occurring only within the IE display area and not the surrounding interface suggests it could be a problem with DirectDraw. Try turning off graphics acceleration (Control Panel > Display > Screen Resolution > Advanced Settings > Troubleshoot tab, and move the acceleration slider to "None"), restart and see if that makes a difference.

ahhhh I see - havent come across a Biostar board for ages! I agree with tigerstar turn off Graphics Acceleration.

I know this is a daft question but is there a splitter on the vga cable? If there is check all the leads and screws are tightened up and that the cables are not damaged. Turn the power off to the splitter and power it back on.

 

Try it with out the splitter. If that does not work we have had problems with screen resolution being too high for the monitor/ projector try say 800*600 and see if the problem goes.

 

Try a different monitor.

This has worked, but with it being on the network, we can only change it for ALL our computers, unless anyone knows how to change single computer settings?
