If you have a problem with copying to windows shares

Just thought I'd share this incase anyone else has the same problem as me.

 

Basically when connecting to a windows share from my mac whenever I copied a file over to the windows machine it would seem to copy but then vanish

 

The fix to this was to connect as follows:

 

cifs://192.168.1.2:139‏

 

(where 192.168.1.2 was the windows server IP)

 

popping the port on the end for some reason cured it
