Ho do you Send exam timetables to individual students?

Our exams office would like to give each student an electronic copy of their exam timetable as well or instead as the printed copy. How does anyone do this?

 

Every method we think of seems to involve doing something, whether copying a file or attaching a file, 200 times, is there a clever automated technique out there?

 

We use Sims, moodle and keep kids safe .

we include upcoming exams and als exams results for the last 3 years in a tab within the student Moodle PLP

Are the timetables unique? or just "This is when all the different tests are on, turn up to yours"?

 

How electronic do they want?

 

How are they produced at the moment? Could you just pdf that method and mail merge it to them?

I put the whole thing on my website with a filter on candidate number. Each student knows their number, type pop it into the search and hay presto - one exam time table unique to them. No names of students are obviously mentioned...

 

If you'd like to see it working, I could mock up a page and send you the link using last years data. PM me if you want that..

GroupCall does this for us to parent and student emails

We use TASC Insight for this, works really well. Provides a full history of results as well as upcoming mocks and summer exam entries and timetables.

Unfortunately not currently as no other MIS's provide API or other access to their exams databases (as far as I know).

 

I am looking at an MIS-agnostic solution to this (not the most elegant, but would be a very flexible tool beyond just exam timetables) currently.

I've also been able to import timetables from Progresso SOAP API and from iSAMS Batch API so there are some methods out there for other MIS's. The main headache I had when integrating these datasets into our product is, like most things, every MIS has structured the data slightly differently so they all take a bit of massaging to fit into the structure I would prefer.
