bought myself an old motorcycle and in the handbook it says to use GL 60 (additive type) gearbox oil. Anyone know what the modern equivalent is? Bike is an MZ TS 125

An MZ! Wow, you must be the last person in the UK to own one!

MZ's used to be really popular in my biking days as winter hacks when people wanted to keep their 'good' bike snug for the winter. They had a good rep for being rough and reliable though - once you'd fixed the problems that is ;)

Aye it's a 1986 and it's done 4300 miles, looks perfect...... until 25 miles down the road when it starts making a metallic rattling noise and the rev counter drops to zero!! Worked that one out though i hope, need the oil though because i need to take the gearbox cover off.

@Pyroman: If you don't get any helpful replies to your query I will ask one of my technicians. He might have the answer as he is quite adept at this sort of thing.

More tomorrow?

Cheers @DaveP I've asked on the MZ forums and no reply yet, that was a week ago!
