It can monitor, record, block etc many activities on 200 workstation. We paid £4500 for the box a couple of years back, but are willing to accept a lot less, as we no longer use the box. cmax Posted March 15, 2012 Author Posted March 15, 2012 I don't see the need to transfer the licenses as the box is licensed to record up to 200 computer connections, regardless of what network it is installed on. I'm sure Securus would do some deal if it is necessary though

Ben The box wasn’t used much but does have some information on it The old/past information it is easily archived, and will eventually automatically overwrite itself. It should be easy to view only your new violations.

It should be easy to view only your new violations. If you are handing the device to someone else then it has to be securely wiped as you will have details on there which another school (or any other party) should not see. This is what Ben is referring to. If you cannot guarantee that this is going to happen then you cannot sell it on. IIRC Securus even offer a service so that once the machine is end of life and being upgraded they will remove your old one and securely wipe it (must check this with Bill Jenkins).

Thank you for that information. I just checked with Securus, they will wipe the box clean for us.

Indeed I wouldn't want to see any of the data that securus logs passed on to a 3rd party you are responsible for your data and to do so would probably constitute a breach of the DPA. Glad to hear you've spoken to securus about getting it sorted. Ben
cmax Posted March 16, 2012 Author Posted March 16, 2012 I have confirmed with Securus. The box can be reset/cleaned once we send them a confirmation letter. The box can then be transferred and used on any network, and will record up to 200 connections with its built-in licenses. Further licenses or maintenance can be purchased, and the box can be registered to another school (if needed). We would be happy to sell the box for half price or less to any interested party. Craig

Need some cash for a managed wireless network! I have had no offers for the box. It's a bit of a shame, as the box does what many schools need, and I will sell at a fraction of the cost as we are using other software that includes the recording now.
