Remove internet explorer print option from file menu and right click, its not in group policy

If there is (I know about disabling right click) then I haven't found it, and I've found virtually every other possible lock down options for the clients.

Using your favorite registry hacking method (mandatory profiles, importing a .reg file, reg.exe, etc)

 

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions

 

Create a new DWORD value called 'NoPrinting' with a value of '1'

 

Other keys that can be created in the same place to further lock down IE:

 

AlwaysPromptWhenDownload - Always prompt user when downloading files.

NoBrowserBars - Disable changes to browsers bars.

NoBrowserClose - Disable the option of closing Internet Explorer.

NoBrowserContextMenu - Disable right-click context menu.

NoBrowserOptions - Disable the Tools > Internet Options menu.

NoBrowserSaveAs - Disable the ability to Save As.

NoFavorites - Disable the Favorites.

NoFileNew - Disable the File > New command.

NoFileOpen - Disable the File > Open command.

NoFindFiles - Disable the Find Files command.

NoNavButtons - Disables the Forward and Back navigation buttons

NoOpeninNewWnd - Disable Open in New Window option.

NoPrinting - Remove Print and Print Preview from the File menu.

NoSelectDownloadDir - Disable the option of selecting a download drectory.

NoTheaterMode - Disable the Full Screen view option.

NoViewSource - Disable the ability to view the page source HTML.

RestGoMenu - Remove Mail and News menu item.

It would be nice if they were in the gpo, but I might have a go tomorrow to see how they work out.

I think they might be in the IEAK ADM templates but I'm not sure. You could always knock an ADM template up of course.

As geoff says, they are in a IE adm file - not at work right now but you can do *alot* using the correct adm file.

Not sure how your GP is setup, but you'll find a whole host of stuff under:

 

Machine / User > Windows Components > Internet Explorer

 

If it isnt there, then you are missing the inetres.adm file I would wager from the system somewhere - just check C:\Windows\inf for the .adm files and see if its there [and on the server too].

 

I've only taken a quick look at the file but i didnt see the disabling printing from IE there - so you still may need to use geoff's method or create a custom .adm file to use in your GP

does anybody know how to get this to work with windows 2000

 

tried the registry hack and it works fine on xp machines but not w2k

 

also the adm i made works fine with xp but not 2k

I think you need to change the settings in the HKCU hive rather than HKLM for W2k to pick up the restriction.
