vikpaw Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 (edited) Ask them to remove patch 16067 then. That was an example, most of them have done that, and even the SIMS upgrade failed. I've run SOLUS two more times and it seems to have applied the packages now. It still ended with a update failed message, but now it's showing nothing needing to be downloaded or applied. I asked Support to release Spring, but it could take a few days apparently, so i'm going to use the ISO i downloaded. Really annoyed at how long it's taking. Plus the patch that i really wanted to enable unicode which didn't work on my old install, wont run cos i'm now on too advanced a database. Now i remember why i only do upgrades once a year! Sivadam Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 (edited) SOLUS3 now set to deploy the Spring re-release over the weekend! One expects no problems this time after we finally cracked the deployment of the original Spring Release! All our SOLUS Issues were caused my mismatches as a result of being part of the field trial that we never got to work. Now, hopefully , all will operate smoothly! Edited March 23, 2012 by Sivadam
vikpaw Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 All sorted, on server. Upgraded machines for SLT and key staff, including FMS, tested staff users for upgrading their own. Works fine, some get a prompt due to UAC i think asking if they want to let the program upgrade their computer, they hit yes a couple of times, and bingo. Takes 3 mins.
Sivadam Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 (edited) Interesting................... All workstations/laptops that were left on over the weekend have upgraded from 7.144.33 to 7.144.36 but users get the pdf saying that SIMS has upgraded to Autumn 2011! Good job I was the first to spot this - at least I can tell all users to ignore it! And the good news is that SOLUS3 has worked perfectly this time, for those machines that were online. Here's hoping that the second stage works when users log their laptops on to the network. There'll be a few that try to access SIMS first tho' before the agent SOLUS runs! Despite my warnings! skunk Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 (edited) @Sivadam did SOLUS3 update those clients that logged on after the weekend ok? Edited March 26, 2012 by skunk
Sivadam Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 Not automatically unfortunately. Had to use the Redeploy option!
matt40k Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 The PDF thing was SOLUS3 not updating the documentation in s:\sims. Is the File Server set correctly in SOLUS3 - it isn't a mapped drive but a physical drive on the server? Have you logged it with Capita?
Cache Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 Our Solus did those that switched on the following day without an issue (barring the people who had managed to open SIMS before the update had kicked in). Solues 3 seems to be getting better, if only it could kick in quicker then the staff....
matt40k Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 They should be "fixing" that 2 mins wait in the next version. So fingers crossed.

Not logged it yet Matt, my Technical expert colleague was not in school today - need to see him first! As for the Autumn PDF - remember we had already upgraded to 7.144.33! Not sure why ours did not pick up the previously offline machines, this morning. Previously we have had the deployment still 'active' waiting for the machines to come back on line. Over the weekend we got a 'partially successful' deployment. Could that be a time factor issue? Edited March 26, 2012 by Sivadam
timbo343 Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Can i just ask, is it ok to deploy the SIMS Spring 2012 release now? Since i haven't heard anymore about it i am presuming so otherwise i may be wrong. Thanks
vikpaw Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 (edited) @timbo343 - yes go for it, just make sure you have the re-released one. Will update with number in a sec. Version ending .36 Edited April 4, 2012 by vikpaw addition 1
timbo343 Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Thanks . My LA weren't too sure so i thought id best ask.
glennda Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Yup I've got in running here and it appears to be fine.
Sivadam Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 .....My LA weren't too sure so i thought id best ask. We have been on it for a while now, Tim. The problem we found with the initial release is resolved! The Spring Update works fine. No discernable effect on our LA Hosted SLG, which is probably on the Autumn Release (we never bother waiting now else we would never update SIMS!) We have now got InTouch installed on top of the Spring 2012, v7.144.36, and that looks fine too from initial testing! Sounds like a typical LA response! With apologies to all concerned obviously!
edutech4schools Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 I have got to do a new server install next week and wanted to get the Spring 12 Sims & FMS cd images. I can not find them in Support Net (might be due to my schools being LA supported) and I do not want to get them from our LA as last time they sent me a copy of the setups folder from another school, which was way out of date and caused me no end of problems. Any advice please.
matt40k Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 Sorry, you'll have to contact your LA, Capita might send it to you, but I'm not sure. We can't send it on or off topic as we have no way of confirming your Capita license other then contacting Capita and saying do they have a license and can you send them the ISO image.
edutech4schools Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 Any idea what it is listed as in support net. Before I go and shout at out LA it would be a lot easier to just download them from Capita.
Cache Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 (edited) News Item 19276 will give you a link if you can see it (It's the only one I can see). Edited May 7, 2012 by Cache
vikpaw Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 The details are in this post if you want update ISOs http://www.edugeek.net/forums/mis-systems/91026-spring-2012-release.html#post795679 You can use your setups folder as a basis. If you want clean install ISOs I've posted the KB number in the past, can't remember it though, think it was 100101 or something like that.
