Honestly? I think that the Welsh teams should also go to THEIR League. But as the League of Wales was only formed in 1992 and is mostly part-time, and the football teams were all formed well before that, the welsh teams were invited into the English pyramid. That is a fact.

 

At no point since the start of the Football League in England has there NOT been a league in Scotland.

 

I don't remember the clamour of English teams to go north of the border in the 80's...all I remember is Rangers buying Chris Woods, Terry Butcher, Gary Steven etc etc etc. European football was the draw for the players...and possibly money too!

(Oh, and before we get into anything...My Dad was at wembley, that day, and was stood in the middle of the Scottish end..... Said that he spent all game being handed nips of whisky, and couldn't walk by the end! So I'll not tar them all with the same brush....unlike SOME, eh Rabbie?)

wembley 77 was that the one where we did a pitch invasion and broke the crossbar? where was the malice in that, we were sitting on the crossbar celebrating and it broke and the fans did a pitch invasion and nicked a bit of grass. I wasnt even born then but my folks were at the game and from what ive been told it wasnt a 'riot' it was the scottish fans celebrating. And yes obviously not every english man is a hooligan so i retract the insinuation.

Nothing will change, they have been talking about wage caps etc for ages now but will teams really agree to it?? Even if England did agree, whose saying all the other European leagues that are in a lot better shape than us take it on? You will then get players boycotting the EPL to go and earn as much money as possible. Football finances spiralled out of control a very long time ago.

 

Massive respect to the players that DO play for their club because of their actual love for the team. 3 Rangers players today have accepted a 75% cut to help, and like someone said a few posts earlier 2 players left without redundancy packages to keep staff from the kitchen employed.

Got to admit, Hearts (who are my nemisis) players deserve all credit since November, who played for the shirt when their wages were'nt paid. I think they are still 1 or 2 months in arrears, but fair play to them for sticking it out.

Shall we talk about Manchester 2008 UEFA Cup final then? To be honest, we could bat these things back and forth all day, as there are plenty of documented cases on BOTH sides.

 

However, Rangers to disappear by the end of the season? I stand by my original comment that they'll become AFC Rangers, but probably be immediately invited BACK into the SPL.
