bandgeekmafia78 Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 Hi. I'm looking to rollout Windows 7 during the Summer so I'm currently getting to grips with creating new Group Policies. On our existing XP computers we used a registry key to display an AUP which had to be accepted before the User was able to log on to the computer. However, in Windows 7 this doesn't seem to work very well at all. I was wondering if anyone had a good solution for this apart from telling me to leave it out? Thanks!
internetuser Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 How does it not work very well ? Ours shows once they hit Ctrl, Alt, Delete then they click OK to accept it and go to the log on screen
bandgeekmafia78 Posted March 6, 2012 Author Posted March 6, 2012 It works here too BUT the text is really out of shape. It used to be justified but now its all over the show. Do you have your AUP as a reg key too?
AngryTechnician Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 At a guess, it sounds to me like your reg key has had a load of spaces put in to emulate line breaks, and now with the wider text area the line breaks aren't right. Am I in the right ballpark?

Am I in the right ballpark? That sounds plausible. I'm blaming my predecessor!
bandgeekmafia78 Posted March 6, 2012 Author Posted March 6, 2012 internetuser - how do you add your AUP if it isn't via a reg key?
AngryTechnician Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 There's a group policy for it. Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Local Policies\Security Options Interactive logon: Message text for users attempting to log on Interactive logon: Message title for users attempting to log on 2
bandgeekmafia78 Posted March 6, 2012 Author Posted March 6, 2012 Awesome. I'll give this a try. Thanks for your help/suggestions it is much appreciated!
cneilson6 Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 We use AUP Informant Paul Beesley / AUP Informant 2 Out Now simple easy to setup and use. Works really well too.

Do you know where I can get hold of this or something similar...? It dominates the search results on the forum but the link hasn't worked for months. Edited May 22, 2012 by BJG
BJG Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 This is great. Do you also use it to display general notices...?
cneilson6 Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 We don't at present though we have considered it in the past as it is fully possible.
