RM CC3 Macromedia MX2004 Wont Run As Student User

Hi all,

 

Basicly macromedia studio MX2004 will not run. It worked fine up until now. It will not run as a student user and will run as a administrator.

We were fighting a similar issue a while ago on our vanilla network [server O/S: Windows Server 2008: SP1: 64 Bit. Client O/s: Windows 7 Pro: 64 Bit]

 

I made a little progress. I found that the Macromedia Licencing Service was not running at the stations:

 

C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Macromedia Shared\Service\Macromedia Licensing.exe

 

Sometimes it would start and stop others it would not run at all. The ICT Department have persuaded our Head to go for the updated CS5 release with an option to upgrade to CS6 when it comes out in the summer.

 

The 'Site Licence' covering 250 stations will cost us about £ 5,500. We are going for Web Premium.

 

Web Premium contains Adobe Photoshop CS5 Extended, Adobe Illustrator CS5, Adobe Acrobat X Pro, Adobe Flash Catalyst CS5.5, Adobe Flash Professional CS5.5, Adobe Flash Builder 4.5 Premium, Adobe Dreamweaver CS5.5, Adobe Fireworks CS5, Adobe Contribute CS5, Adobe Bridge CS5, Adobe Device Central CS5.5, and Adobe Media Encoder CS5.5.

 

We are trying to get other departments interested [not just ICT] to make it as cost effective as possible to buy this. We have asked Art, Technology, Media Studies and Admin. They have all said that they are interested.

 

Best news [as far as I am concerned] is that it comes with an MSI for easy deployment.

I found that when trying to install Smallbasic you need %userprofile%\local settings\temp\* . This is blocked by RM as standard but needs to be allowed for Macromedia MX2004.
