Recommend an .ac.uk supplier

I have been asked to set up an ac.uk domain for the college I work in. Went through JANET but they just pushed me towards a huge list of suppliers and I don't recognise any of them! Can anybody recommend a company?

I'm not sure you need to use a registrar, i think you can just register it yourself (we are going through a domain change with nominet at the moment) I think you can just complete the form here: Template and supply them with the info they need. I may be wrong, but thats how it is working with nominet for a .sch.uk address.

Register via Nominet. You will need to tell them who will be the tag holder (registrar) and it needs to be supported via JANET, a JANET PoP or BIS based on a recent conversation. Nominet will give you a full run down of what the process *should* be though ... but you are going to need to speak to a real person.

Nominet don't have any control over .ac.uk domains? .ac.uk registrations need to be done via a JANET approved ISP, you can't do it directly with them (well you never used to be able too).

I did try to register directly but they pointed me to that list. Everybody I have spoken to registered direct with JANET so I have gone back to them.
