Messenger Service?

Hi everyone,

 

Is there a way to enable the messenger service in Windows 7? I know that it hasn't been in Windows since Vista bu I need it for PCounter...

 

Can anyone shed some light on the situation?

Microsoft removed it ever since Windows Vista.

 

Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 all have it removed. It can be easily exploited for malicious purposes, such as annoying pop-ups or malware. I remember I used to disable it via GPO in XP for this reason.

 

Realistically you're going to have to find an alternative. If you need it for PCounter, ask them for an alternative method.
