802.11a channels

What are the channels available for use in Europe on 802.11a - it seems remarkably undocumented on the net!

All channels should be available as they are non overlapping.

Mainly because you can't get a decent signal once you are more than a gnat's pube away from the AP (ok ... exaggeration, but that is how it feels sometimes when you are used to b/g)

802.11a has 52 sub-carrier channels. 48 are for data and 4 are pilot sub-carriers with a carrier separation of 0.3125 MHz

Maybe I should have made myself more clear. There is a lot of information about the number of channels but not the channel numbers which I require so that I can configure Kismet.

The indoor 802.11a channel numbers are 34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44, 46, 48, 52, 56, 60 and 64.

@plexer: Aren't those the channels for the US? I believe that Europe has a couple more.

No, that is for 802.11b/g. In the US only channels 1 to 11 are usable, where as here in Europe we can use 1 - 13

 

802.11a uses the same channels everywhere. Plexer is correct.

I've looked it up in my access controller and (as I had previously read) Europe has 19 channels:

36, 40, 44, 48, 52, 56, 60, 64, 100, 104, 108, 112, 116, 120, 124, 128, 132, 136 and 140

 

It seems that the US has 12.

100 - 140 are unusable in the UK.
