I have a user who has a large number of video files on an external hard drive. She's accessing it from Windows 7 and has set the Display Properties to show the length of the video as well as some other data that she needs. I know that we can export the filename and path etc. from the commandline into a .txt file using dir and it's switches so we can import it into Excel or Access, but is there any way of exporting this additional data? The database that she's using has a number of fields specific to the videos (date created, duration etc.) and it would be a good deal easier to export/import this data rather than have to enter this information manually for each video.

Thanks in advance!

Hmm - I've done a fair amount of research and it seems that metadata can be exported from some video playing or editing software. That seems as awkward as viewing the files in Windows, having set the display columns appropriately, and entering the data manually into the database.
