We have a 2 NAS boxes which have sadly both broken however the drives containing the data are fine.

We have them connected to a pc and are going to try to recover the data with data recovery tools which will obviously take a long time (2TB data).

We know the RAID parameters of how it was set up, if we created a new RAID array using the Pc's onboard RAID controller (will be different controller to that in the NAS boxes) will that lose us the existing array and data or would it make the drive readable under Windows/Linux.

This would save us a vast amount of time in sanning for recovery.

Don't expect it to be possible but thought it would be worth asking on here.
