davepetty Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Hi Tech Guy We do both really We have a leasing laptop leasing business so we use parts for that, we also have a little shop that we sell refurbished laptops from. We are also building a website to sell refurbished ones on. Many thanks David
Chris_ Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 I was contacted by Laptop for Teachers a couple of years ago... I was a little sceptical about it, rang up a couple of the schools on the testimonies page, most of the people on there had moved on, only spoke to one person who had used Laptop for Teachers to get rid of some old laptops and they had good things to say about them.
featured_spectre Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Just get those reviews up from more recent customers (check if they're happy to have contact details available also)
mossj88 Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Getting testimonials and feedback is all about making it as easy as possible for someone to give it. You don't need it written down so just talking to someone over the phone (perhaps offer a free thingymagig) and asking them if it's okay to list them as a customer would do wonders for updating those testimonals. If you pick up the laptops yourself, you could maybe talk to them then and get some feedback straight away whilst loading up.
jamesfed Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Used them quite a few times at my last place - a good deal in all cases (although HP trade in cash back is better most of the time).
featured_spectre Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 ^ that is something I can trust, James, offer to be a testimonial for the man!
davepetty Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Hi James Thank you for putting an honest assessment of your dealings with us. As you may have have read I have not been pushing testimonials as I thought it would irritate all the schools I deal with by asking, So I have not really pushed it. Having the feedback back from edugeek users I have realized how important testimonials are, and I would be really grateful if you could give me an honest testimonial for our website. Many thanks in advance Kind regards David
Hefferzzzz Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Always amazes me at how quickly people on here like to shoot down and stamp all over a new supplier. I appreciate you may be trying to help others not get burned but this whole thread stinks of guilty until proven innocent. We are all busy, we all have had bad experiences with our suppliers but not everyone is out to rip us off. 1
featured_spectre Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 I will say now, I am never out to rip a company apart, before I use anyone, I check thoroughly if they are worth using, and best way is by testimonials or customers that have used them before. @CPLTD is a prime example, it took me about 2 weeks of my own checking of their customer base, credit reference file, company house check before I used them @Millgate I have never used, but having checked their customer base, credit reference file and company house, I would use them @davepetty I have never used, but I would check all sources available to me before I do, including companies house check, as well as a credit check. I am ruthless to say the least. 4 years ago I published a wifi report, that effectively ruined the reputation of Xirrus, HP, and Netgear on here. They all came to see me after at my workplace and asked for advice on how to improve, and to their credit, they did. I am not a witch-hunter, I am a person that scrutinises, and scrutinises harshly.

Many thanks in advance Kind regards David Only thing is I'm no longer at the school where we did business before so I wouldn't be a very good person to call I do start at my new place in a few weeks time though and know that before the end of the year I will have quite a lot of kit to scrap....
davepetty Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Ok Great just let me know when you are ready. Good luck with the new job. David

davepetty Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Hi I have been on to the company that looks after my website and they have put the security in place. Thanks again for the info David Curiosity. Right click an image on the site, grab the url. Paste the URL into the adress bar and remove the last part [/blah.jpg] You now have the server directory and can look about. [the furthest back you can go is "laptopsforteachers.co.uk/uploads/"] @davepetty I would have a word with your webadmin. IIRC, it's pretty easy to fix this. [it's permissions related, I think.]
X-13 Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Hi I have been on to the company that looks after my website and they have put the security in place. Thanks again for the info David No worries. I checked it out, forbidden with a side of 404 on /uploads/ /javascript/ and /css/ are accessable, though. [i've only just started perusing your source...] As an aside, I would remove the admin link at the bottom of the page... But, that's just my opinion.
davepetty Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 Hi everyone, I hope you are all well and are looking forward to the summer holidays. Just to let you all know that after taking your advice I have added some more genuine testimonials, Thanks once again for all your input. If you could think of anything else to improve our website or service then that would be great. Also if you ever need our services then just let me know. Many thanks David Laptops For Teachers
