A free file browser for OSX Lion?

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Due to Apple hiding all of the interesting things in Lion by default I'm wondering what you all use as an alternative file browser for Mac? Must be free of course, but simply being restricted to the 'standard' folders and having to use a work around each time I want to dig into the system is getting tedious.

Suggestions please (must be Lion compatable).

chflags nohidden ~/foldername

I've already done that, but it's faffage I don't really need. I'm using Path Finder atm but it's on a 30 day trial. I'm pretty sure thre is a similar one out there which is totally free and I've used in the past. There's a reason GUI's were invented y'know ;)

What hidden folders do you need to get on a regular basis?

If you find the need to get to your library folder constantly, use the Go To Folder in Finder and then type in where you wish to go to i.e /etc. Then when it appears just press cmd + up arrow. This will take you up one level. Then click and drag the folder onto your sidebar. This will create a shortcut that will allow you the get to the folder in one click. This also works once the Library folder has been unhidden. You can hide at again after if you wish to.
