Bengual Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Hello there Edugeekers... Bit of an odd problem. We have an IT suite, Win 7, and IE9 all round. When pupils log on and go to wordpress.com, they can log in OK, but when they go to upload a picture, the button does not work. The only ways I have found to get this to work are by right clicking the button and selecting 'Open in new tab...'. Or by the convoluted method of logging in as an admin, going to the wordpress website, clicking the Compatibility View button then logging off. The former is OK, but the kids keep forgetting what to do, the latter does not always work. Things I have tried include, updating flash, deleting profiles, clearing out all IE temp data, setting the wordpress.com website as a compatibility view website in group policy, using procmon to check for permission issues, chanting magic phrases, banging my head against a brick wall, shouting. Any ideas welcome. Many, many thanks, Ben.
AngryTechnician Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 All the problems I've ever had with the Wordpress uploader have been to do with proxying. What proxy/filtering system are you using?

AngryTechnician Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Unfortunately I've never been able to work out exactly what causes the problems. All I know is that the various iterations of or RM SmartCache caused problems, but our Smoothwall doesn't. You could determine whether Sophos is to blame by setting up one of the standard logins to bypass the proxy temporarily, if that's possible in your environment.

jamesfed Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Have a look at the IE9 network capture tool - Using Internet Explorer Developer Tools Network Capture to see whats going on when you click on the link - just trying on my own wordpress site (self hosted) quite a few files get downloaded when you click on the media button - as others have said I would bet your proxy is getting in the way.
sonofsanta Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 I've had problems with image uploads on some sites before with NTLM Identification on our Smoothwall. Adding affected sites to an NTLM Exceptions list usually fixed it, if Sophos does/can do something similar.
