Need some advice about Courses

Hi Guys,

 

Wondering if you can give me some advice on what courses to do? So far since Leaving University with a HND in Business computing. I've had around 5-6 years of 1st, 2nd, 3rd line support. Vary from Helpdesk support to getting my hands dirty.

 

Now am looking to do some courses to help my career path. I've been recommended to do a CCNA course but unfortunately the place I want to do it doesn't start it until Sept so am looking for something to tie me over until then. I've been told to go for MCITP courses. Now this is the confusing bit? Am not sure what section I want to do? The course people are recommending me to start the Windows 7 MCITP for a good starter then work on from there.

 

Any recommendation would be great.

Hi Tailor,

 

MCITP will be perfect if you haven't done any Microsoft Courses before & depending on your experience.

Even if you know what you're doing, it's always handy to have the the Certificate as well - looks good on a CV

Do you want to configure Windows servers or do you want to configure Cisco network equipment (although a lot of the theory is transferable to other manufacturers ) ?

I gave it some thought today and Am going to go for the Server Administrator MCITP. Barnfield College do a course for 10 weeks in the evenings which looks interesting and doesn't cost to me either.

 

The way am looking at is If you have a windows 7 machine PC world can fix it.....But if you have a Server 2008 R2 with some AD issues they will need to call the experts in right?
