licensing question

We are adding a 2008 SIMS server to our 2003 domain, the new server will sit in the domain but only 3 clients will access it.

 

I know we will require SQL CALS for the clients i.e x 3. I presume that I only need 3 CALs for 2008 but have been advised that I will need 2008 CALs for all stations in the domain is this correct?

If only three machines are going to access the server then you only need 3 device CALs.

You will only need the 3 cals but remember if you promote it to a DC then you will need full cals

 

Are you running the full blown sql server as sims can be installed with the lite version
