laserblazer Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 I have to collect my son from Gatwick tomorrow at 6.30am!!! Means leaving home at 4am and hopefully back for work by 9. Does anyone know the Gatwick area and can recommend a filling station close by, where I can fill up and hopefully wait until he has cleared customs so I don't have to pay a fortune in the carpark.
featured_spectre Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 There is a McDonalds about 10 minutes away, you can park there for 4 hours provided you use the restaurant (buy yourself a breakfast and coffee, then sit either in your car or in the restaurant). Job done 1

Crawley Avenue, West Green Pfs, Crawley RH10 8NF That's right, the Sainsbury's is only 10 - 15 minutes drive or so from the airport, especially at 6.30am. It is on a usually busy dual carriageway, with roundabouts at each end of that section of road. A friend of mine lives very close to that store and I've been there several times when visiting her. The store coffee shop is unlikely to be open that early, but you might be able to get a take-away coffee and something to eat at the on-site petrol station. 1

denzal2k4 Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 my dad had to collect me from there yesterday and he parked in tescos 5 mins away, the mcdonalds at the airport just by the roundabout has a strict limit its either 45 mins or 90 mins and an auto £90 fine if you are over, regardless of if you eat there so just be aware of that.

crc-ict Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Trouble with McDonalds though is that they don't sell fuel. I don't know about now as I stopped drinking coffee a few years ago, but the old coffee in the cardboard cups always tasted a bit like fuel!!
