paulwinman Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 i have a optoma projector how ever when i went to play a game there were 4 white spots on the screen however the projector only 3 years old and i only play games and watch movies the life of the projector bulb is 520 hour that's all they go up to 4000 before replacement i don't no whats wrong with it anyway if there is would it be worth repairing or not ? how much would it cost

paulwinman Posted January 5, 2012 Author Posted January 5, 2012 ya on all outputs they are like stars one of the twinkle there's 6 of them scattedaround the screen i don't think its worth getting it repaired its not hd nor has got a hdmi output just a video output

Colour guarantee? our 5 year cover is for any fault on the projector so under ours it would be covred but if your saying your cover is listing certain faults only i would be unsure, but i must say it sounds a strange cover??? straklatje Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 hello i have the same problem whit mij se522 optoma beamer after 1000 houre of use i dit see 3 white dots on the screen so i dit contact a beamer expert en he says it is mostly dust so i dit let the beamer clean up . it was not good the dot wher still there after a movie or 2 now i kan see the whole galaxy . i dit take out the lamp and had a good look at it for dust but it was clean .the i dit find out thad if i start te beamer and look in the lens the dots where bihind the lens i took out the lens and dit see a chip bihind it whit the spots on it. now i am wondering can i clean thad chip and whit wat produkt ? or do i have to let it repare whit a new chip? sorry for my bad English hoop to get a selution
Marc-Engineer Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Hi, it is unlikley that the spots are dust for the reasons i mention above it is an odd problem i would love to have one in the workshop to look at, but with yours only having 1000Hrs i would contact where you bought it even if it is out of its warrenty and explain it is ONLY 1000hrs old. Oaktech Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 I've seen an epson with a very similar problem, individual pixels which seemed to randomly switch between white/black/blue/red/green, turned out to be the control board into which all 3 lcd panels were plugged, costing over £300 to aquire, it was just not worth repairing as the owners had let the problem go on for ages the LCD's were burnt too. If it's not under warranty (and it's worth checking with the manufacturer, not just the people you bought it from) then write it off.
Marc-Engineer Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Hmm i understand what your saying but to get white you need the same pixel on all three screens in line to give white the chances are 1 in 5 billion close as i can estimate so i would not think this is the case unless it is a main board fault that could create this condition but it is unusual. ericdelpozo Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 (edited) Hello, there were many points white on my projector (Acer p1110) On DLP projector there is a DMD chip which can cause white spots. I decided to open my projector. I found the DMD chip which was defective. benfrank4 Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 from working with projectors and information that I have researched this can be a common problem. Spots with start off gradually and then multiply. there is a fix for this, you can fix yourself or send in for repair. It is usually caused by what they call a DMD Chip, once replaced it should fix the problem. There is a how to video on youtube on how to replace it yourself.
