I'm having issues with an Optoma dvd media time projector. I turn on the projector and shortly following start up a message pops up saying "fan error has occurred projector shutting down." I have done research and have not found an answer to my problem. I have a replacement lamp ordered, because the lens was reaching 100 hours left of life. I'm hesitant to replace the lamp if I'm still going to have it continue with the error message. Has anyone came across this same issue, and is it worth the fix.

from working with projectors and information that I have researched this can be a common problem. Spots with start off gradually and then multiply. there is a fix for this, you can fix yourself or send in for repair. It is usually caused by what they call a DMD Chip, once replaced it should fix the problem. There is a how to video on youtube on how to replace it yourself.
