Hi All

we have been having an issue with a Sanyo PLC-xu41. It was run way past its rated lamp life, (was at 3800 hours), but projected fine with the replace lamp LED lit.

We have now bought a new bulb, and When turning on, it turns on with the power light flashing green for 2-3 seconds, then initiates a power down (fans fast flashing red light) and goes back into standby.

It does this with both the new bulb and the old bulb now. Any ideas would be much appreciated before I throw it out of the window :).

Sounds like it needs the thermal trip reset which involves taking the thing apart i think with those projectors.

EDIT: thats for an PLC XE41 not sure about the XE40

Hmm, I removed the Main PCB and the fan module on the side and was not able to see any button, according to the service manual, it should be underneath the bulb cage near the back but I cant see it.

I'm reluctant to dismantle the ballast any further due to potential hazards from caps etc.

Thats probably wise. I guess you either need to find an engineer to look at it, or replace it. It looks like its only 1500 lumens, so I would replace it personally.

Hi , its NOT the trip, if it turns on at all it can not be the trip, with the trip you would get nothing no power no lights NOTHING.

It sounds like you have a faulty ballast with over running your lamp.

They do come on when the they have cut out due to heat - there is a large thread about resetting/cleaning them.

They power on for a few secs then turn off.
