cookie_monster Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 Hi all, I have an old Acer Aspire 1313LC (part of the 1310 series) laptop that I no longer use but I hate using ebay unless I have to. Any takers/ideas? See spec below....it has a floppy drive lol The power adapter has a break somewhere in the cable and occasionally needs a wiggle but the laptop itself is in very good condition and has never had a fault. AMD 1800+ CPU 768 Mb RAM 60 Gb HD PCMCIA Wireless card 56k Modem Parallel port Floppy drive It has a Windows XP Home licence on the bottom but I don't have the CD Battery replaced 2 years ago and holds and hour + charge Any questions? SYNACK Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 What do you need, if you're into grid computing you could use it for distributed science. Using it for something like a picture frame would be horrifficly power inefficient. Download server with external drives or media/DLNA server perhaps. I use an atom box for that here and a low power box running WMP or W7 works really well as a dlna server.

Most CNC kit runs specifically on older harder, so for instance if it runs Windows 98, has a serial and/or parallel port, and has a working floppy drive than they'll often bite your hands off for it. 1
