A quick launcher type app if anyone wants it. [ like the office bar prog I know some of you use ]

Almost finished coding it. If anyone wants it, let me know and I'll provide a link for it + source so you can edit any changes for your particular school.

What it looks like so far....

Quick Launcher ver 1.1 Guide

Installing

Create a folder with a name of your choice. Un-zip the contents in it and run the .exe

This will run over a network share just in case you are wondering.

Program locations

I've tried to keep the program locations as default but you may have them a little different. In order to change them just edit the file locations in the loop. [ The Run statements ]

You may not have a web based E-mail system so you may want to change the mail to outlook or whatever system you have.

IMPORTANT

After you have changed program locations etc, you will have to re-compile the script.

Download it from http://www.autoitscript.com/autoit3/downloads.php

Icons

The icons have to be in the same file location as the .exe file for them to appear.

The IE icon should appear automatically as the script is pulling the icon from the program location.

If you have IE installed in a different location then edit the line which starts with the $Icon_5 variable.

Copyright

No copyright on this - it’s a simple bit of coding for anyone to change as they see fit. All I ask is you keep the 'About' message box with the edugeek message in. The site deserves credit as is helps many people in schools in regards to IT.

Thanks for posting the script. Very nice work. It works very well.

I do have one question though-when I click the close button on the toolbar, it does not do anything. Is there any trick to getting this to work?

Thats deliberate. Stop the boys [ here ] from closing it. They can minimize is though.

If you want it to close when they click on the cross then you need to add a

'Case $GUI_EVENT_CLOSE' Event ID.

Stick it near the end:

Case $GUI_EVENT_CLOSE

Exit

Glad you liked the app !!

	Case $bpress = $infoitem
		MsgBox(0, "Student Quick Launcher v 1.1", "Student Quick Launcher v 1.1" & @CRLF & "Written By Matt Marsh." & @CRLF & "" & @CRLF & "Comments & Suggestions to:" & @CRLF & "[email protected]" & @CRLF & "Last Update: May 2007" & @CRLF & "For Edugeek.net members" & @CRLF & "www.edugeek.net")
	EndSelect
WEnd
Select
	Case $GUI_EVENT_CLOSE
		Exit
EndSelect

Is that where you were talking about adding it? My computer still ignores the close command. (I have just started using Autoit a short while ago, and am still learning how to properly code with it). I did recompile the script.

[ Sorry for the delay - been busy ]

Stick it at the top of the loop:

while 1

$bpress = GUIGetMsg()

Select

case $bpress = $GUI_EVENT_CLOSE

Exit

Case $bpress = $Icon_5

Run ('C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe http://www.google.co.uk')

; blah blah rest of code..........

That should do it.....
