Need advice on my LaserJet Printer

Hello everyone.

 

I need a bit of advice. Now we have a Dell 3110cn laserjet printer which has a transfer belt unit close to life, meaning its going to die soon. What would be the best option for the school?

i.e. to get a replacement for the belt unit which is about £300 inc vat!, or to purchase the complete pack which includes belt unit, rolllers, & fuser kit to prevent false economy for about £400 inc vat!, or just forget it and buy a new printer!

From what I can see on-line, you can get one cheaper than that. Not good from a recycling perspective but a bit of a no-brainer I would have thought Edited December 19, 2011 by witch

They are expensive to buy new but i'd personally rather do that then pay £400 for bits!

 

On the other hand, we have a refurb one of these in stock for £240 ex vat.

TBH a refurbed one is what I meant and this ^ looks like a good deal

the refurbished one has new parts or used parts?

I'm not 100% on that one so I'll check in the morning. I assume refurb parts.

 

It comes with a 30 day warranty though

I need a printer which is very similar in specification as to the current printer.

Or might get the complete maintenance kit which includes rollers/fuser/belt unit. The parts are there when the other bits die or break...

Sorry about not getting back to you, i found the info and forgot to post it

 

The printer is basically a 2nd hand one and i asked about the parts inside it and they just said "we make sure it's working, we may not even need to replace parts"

 

Like i said, there's a 30 days warranty on it. Let me know what you think

Do some future costings for toner cost and page life on these toners then you will see what the benefits are if you move away from the 3110c. We have one at work, and the cartridges do about 8000 pages each.

Which printer do you have? The 3110cn prints upto 8000 pages if you were to purchase a high-capacity toner than a standard one which is 3000 I think.

We get the 8000 page ones but not originals as tgey are a hell of a lot cheaper and do the job without any problems.
