Mini Mac

Hi All

 

Well after a rush job late last night of upgrading the memory on my Mini Mac, I managed to brak a ribbon on the back board, which on a little research I have found out is just the audio cable.

 

So now when the mac boots no sound, and no sound from the web, or any apps I use on it :-(

 

So... Does anyone know if I can get around this by using a USB sound card? and if so, can anyone advise me of one which will work with a Mac, and that wont break the bank :-)

hmmm possible, the mac is around a 2005 model. so its not new. I would have to open it up again to have a look. Thanks for the link I will add that to my watch list and check it out at the weekend

 

one thing i did remember tho when I broke the cable from the board end, was it looked like it was soldered onto the board, and not clipped...

2005 could be a G4 unit just get a set of speakers.

I use one of these USB 2.0 Audio Adapter Converter - Virtual 7.1 Surround Sound | LINDY UK on my Mac Pro. Works fine.

Hmm I will try a set of speakers this evening, maybe they will work.. if not thanks to Markcuk I will get one of these USB sound cards which should do the trick
