Guest richard Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 I have managed to get out of instlling this for the time being as I have just ordered new laptops for the staff.
alonebfg Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 i had a phone call from said company and explaned the problems. There answer was this software is not disgnied for a network ??. Then they added that the issues were being looked into and will be sorted by the next version. I did a lot of venting and he told me how sorry he was I think he felt a bit embaresed. In the end he said there was nothing he could do as he was not one of the programme enginers.
webman Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 From what I hear, if I were one of the programmers for that I'd be in hiding right now and expecting it to be featured on WorseThanFailure
BillyBoy Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 :!: My Wife aked me to install this software which is the norm and i couldnt belive how poor it was. I can get most IT things to work but when i struggled i look at the forums only to be dissapointed that my fears had been realised. Teachers in small schools in the land will be pulling their hair out wasting time on yet more Planning related rubbish rather than being supplied with the resources they need Free of charge that work. 8O
enjay Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 The recently-released network version of this works a treat.
alonebfg Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 Nope it dosent teacher sometimes work from home and to change proxys is nightmare also still store data in profile (as a teacher told me steer clear its still crap tried it at home happy just to copy and paste.
Andie Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 Oh, dear! I got asked to download this and install it today. Didn't get very far, as zip file for network version took ages to extract to folder on share and then class came into suite. Staff training taking place after school today from a laptop/IWB (not networked). Perhaps they will have decided it is not needed....!!! Bit concerned about the data being put into profile, anyway, as our profiles are deleted on logout!
alonebfg Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 thats ok but some of our teacher use laptops at home so have offline roaming profiles with a limit on the profile fills it up in two cuts. If you can cut and paste just goto there website and use it direct from there. Its better quick and dont cause tou ict tech a heart attack. found out today with network version Its no better just looks like they have imbedded the script from this site ??
PiqueABoo Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 Just read the dozen-ish lines that are the comprehensive network install guide including this on the proxy: "where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the IP address or URL to the proxy server" An URL huh?
enjay Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 Just read the dozen-ish lines that are the comprehensive network install guide including this on the proxy: "where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the IP address or URL to the proxy server" An URL huh? Yes, a URL - such as ours which is adslcache.rmplc.co.uk...
scampy Posted June 20, 2007 Posted June 20, 2007 Hey, i have been asked to install this rubbish onto the network in a school. i have had a brief run in with this when the Network version was not released, and found it was a pig! running the network version and everything seems to be running fine. just a few questions When run for the first time, is there suppose to be any default templates for the users? also is the Images, Mathmatics, literacy ect. drop down in the content manager suppose to be empty? and if so how does the user add objects to it? i have had a little play and already i am not liking ¬_¬
Guest richard Posted June 20, 2007 Posted June 20, 2007 Well I'm in the process of downloading the network version as I type this as hopefully this version will work but I'm not holding my breath...
scampy Posted June 20, 2007 Posted June 20, 2007 it seems to be working fine for me, and i have just looked at the website and saw some templates.... i have nto had my coffee yet... thats my excuse and i am sticking to it ^_^
Guest richard Posted June 20, 2007 Posted June 20, 2007 Its installed, configured and "seems" to be working.
Andie Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 Maybe this is me, but I've spent a couple of days grappling with the network version which is supposed to be OK! I printed the instructions from the Primary Frameworks website, but somehow the lines to edit for the proxy were not correct on the printout (I only know that now as I went back to the page at home and have found the extra lines). As a result, the proxy settings weren't complete and the page on the first tab didn't load unless I went into Options on the menu bar and manually edited the Network tab settings. Not sure how this happened.... It takes a while to load once it is started. I'm going to attempt to get it going properly tomorrow!!
Andie Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 Success! It is still slow, and the fact that there is no message to say "Loading...Please wait" or something, and the egg timer goes off and on, means that click-happy users are going to load and reload the thing. That is, if anyone gets the time to use it.... But I've done it, and can tick it off!
colin1951 Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 Has anyone received the message: getGuidFromAssetUrl: Component retirned failure code 0x80004003 (NS_ERROR_INVALID_POINTER)[nsIDOMSerializer.serializeToString] I get this when I open one of the word files you can download. I am using office 2003 standard with all updates. Even though I get the message the file still opens OK. If I load the url into ie7 & open the word file it works fine. I have searched the web & found references to the error in firefox but no fixes suggested. any idea anyone??
