Just had a gentleman come into the place where I work with an aging Dell Desktop saying that he had just brought it the other day and could he have a look at it as it was running slow and saying the hdd was full.

I put it on the bench and fired it up to find a P4 1.7 with 768MB PC133 RAM a 30GB HDD running windows 7 Ultimate, Office 2007 Enterprise and Photoshop CS5 :getmecoat:

When I explained when I explained this to him and told him that the software was not legal he asked what could be done I told that the system would have to be reinstalled using the Windows XP Home COA on the case he told me that a friend had offered to install Windows 8 on it for £20 and that would fix all his problems he was having. With that he picked up his system and left......

As they say "Some people never learn".

He fit Win7, office 2k7 and photoshop on a 30GB drive?

You had Dr Who in your shop and you let him just walk out?!

Yep there was about 180MB free on the drive lol

Oooh I have a Willamette 1.7GHz P4 with an old SIS PC133 chipset sitting around somewhere here. It was my PC 9 years ago, and performance was rubbish then. I've got to try it on Windows 7!

Strange windows 7 works fine on very old machines, as for the illegal issues well.....

We had a Year 12 lad who came up here and wanted access to our wireless, I had a look, realised it was an illegal copy. I looked at him and said no this is an illegal OS and I am not having that connected to our system. Was rather blunt and rude did say sorry for it but if he wants it on our system it must be legal.

Strange thing was this lad had been in three to five times over the year to connect it and each time it had a different OS... he was what I class as a BTEC Tinkerer (means clueless yet thought he knew it all because he could install an OS) yet asked me silly questions over the year...

Still have to love this job! :D

Illegal software on computers is rife in the area where I work as there are numerous computer shops offering second hand systems with Windows 7 on them for £50 upwards :dizzy:
