Well I just thought I'd share this as I think I've reached a new level of remote access... I'm currently remoting in to my home PC which is connected to my [broken] HTC Desire using ScreenCast so I can check periodically for texts...

 

I really should just buy a new screen!

Then maybe you can help! Are the G7 screens compatible? I'm led to believe the Desire G7 is a Chinese version of the Desire but I'm reluctant to order a screen until I know it'll fit (especially as the sellers I've found on eBay are Chinese and their broken English isn't filling me with confidence that they actually understand what I'm asking!)

G7 screen will be fine, just make sure you get the right one (OLED/LCD) for your phone. You can check with the serial number under your battery, whack it into google and see what comes up. Good luck!

Cheers, it's an OLED so a bit more expensive unfortunately but not having my phone is killing me! Might not be this side of crimbo though
