[ipad] No sound on apps?

Morning all

 

We have a couple of iPads here and one has no sounds when using apps.

 

I can get it to make a noise when using menus and starting up etc and the sound will work perfectly when headphones are plugged in.

 

The volume switch doesn't seem to increase/decrease the volume (just comes up with sound effect and doesn't do much).

 

I have checked the mute/rotation lock switch and tried in as many combinations as I can.

 

I've tried a factory restore and a reset settings but no difference.

 

Any one have any ideas?

Do you have the same issue when headphones are plugged in?

When the head phones are plugged in the sound works fine, volume controls work and all apps have sound.

 

As soon as you remove the headphones the problem returns.

have you ever used bluetooth or air play?

I don't *think* bluetooth or airplay have been used (its a PE iPad, looked after by the department so not 100% sure).

 

Can that cause a problem?
