Whose network (ie:O2, Vodafone) does Virgin Mobile piggy back/use?

@Kyle: Our leader, the almighty Dos_Box, has a Virgin phone (it is also on the Virgin network ) - he seems pretty happy with it and is constantly banging on about how little it has cost him.

 

Personally, it would be no good for me because I know that the T-Mobile network sucks around my house and local... 2 of the areas that I would be most likely to use it. Admittedly, my local is across the road from my house so calling it two locations is a little unfair

What has surprised me is to say I live in the middle of nowhere 3 actually works and gives a good 3G coverage when I had a friend round that had a 3 phone! It has surprised me a lot!

 

As for me personally Orange works fine for me. Shame I didn't want a contract phone when they did the original Virgin copying contract offer as it was an absolute bargin!

Depends where you live. I think that Virgin have something on their web site where you can tap your postcode in and it will tell you what the service is like in that area.

 

I certainly notice worse signal strength since I moved to Virgin from Orange, however I can typically make calls without interference, so I'm happy. The much lower bill makes it worth it (my wife is also on Virgin, you see) too. Also, Virgin do a rather nice "pay as you went" service whereby you don't have a contract or top-ups to worry about, they just Direct Debit your account at the end of each month for whatever you used that month. Much better for me, as I have high use months and low use, and contracts were a waste of money in the low months.

They do a good service if you are already a Virgin Media (ex Telewest) customer already. I think it is £10 a month for a Virgin Sim card and you get 300 mins and 300 txts included, just need you own unblocked phone.
