No Video on projector output

My problem is with a new Lenovo all in one that is connected to a Smartboard, and 2nd video output to projector via a new Startech USB - VGA/ DVI adapter (no VGA out on these) .......

When playing video the content of the video does not show on the projected image.

The OS is fully updated XPP and the adapter software is the latest available.

I have tried various screen resolutions and I have tried with WMP11 andVLC. When playing music on WMP the "squiggly lines and shapes" graphic does not show on the projected image neither.

 

Any ideas?

Graphics card cant cope with rendering both screens properly - change the vga adapter to the primary screen normally provides a workable solution
