robertsenior Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 ouch that would have been scary when your parachute is under you then you know theres something wrong there lol
MK-2 Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 Apparently this was his first jump and possibly last I'm guesing
featured_spectre Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 amazing recovery, especially as he opened his reserve chute (otherwise his landing would have been a hell of a lot more rougher).
cromertech Posted November 3, 2011 Author Posted November 3, 2011 and possibly last I'm guesing There is footage of the landing and the bird that was tangled up flying away but I guess that's why you have a spare
MK-2 Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 There is footage of the landing and the bird that was tangled up flying away but I guess that's why you have a spare I didn't mean I thought he'd died. I meant more the experience for a first time jump might have put him off
cromertech Posted November 3, 2011 Author Posted November 3, 2011 I didn't mean I thought he'd died. I meant more the experience for a first time jump might have put him off oops my bad lol!!
laserblazer Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 There's some more on the story here. It was an eagle got caught in the rigging. Eagle takes down paraglider, paraglider saves eagle - Yahoo! Eurosport UK
aerospacemango Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 There's some more on the story here. It was an eagle got caught in the rigging. Eagle takes down paraglider, paraglider saves eagle - Yahoo! Eurosport UK That would really depend on how you're defining "more"!!! It wasn't an eagle (Bad Yahoo!!!) but a Himalayan Griffon Vulture! And the standard of spelling in the comments section beggars belief!
plexer Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 I thought I'd seen that he was a paraglider not a jumper. Ben
laserblazer Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 (edited) IIt wasn't an eagle (Bad Yahoo!!!) but a Himalayan Griffon Vulture I thought it was a Norwegian Blue. Paraglider Pilot: Help, there's f-ing great eagle caught in my lines. Ground Control: Wait one whilst I get my binoculars. Pilot: FFS! What can I do? Ground Control: It doesn't look like an eagle, I'll just get my bird spotting book. Pilot: Jeez, I'm going to die. Ground Control: Ah here it is, it's a Himalayan Griffon Vulture. Pilot: I don't give a s***. What can I do. Ground Control 2: Deploy your reserve 'chute. Oops too late! Ground Control: Oh look, there's a load more Himalayan Griffon Vultures circling overhead.
