Is there any way to route the start menu to a custom folder containing shortcuts that we place in them.

We used a program called Talmos Classroom Manager a couple of year ago on XP and it worked really well.. we have since upgraded to windows 7 x64 and i tried to adopt the same method but it doesn't work really well at all.

The old way we had a hidden share \\server\menus$\roomname

and then set that location to the start menu location from registry using a vbs script at logon.. doing the same thing with Windows 7 shows the icons but when they are clicked nothing happens.
