please wait for the user profile server slow logon

Good Afternoon,

 

I'm having a big issue with roaming logons on a Server 2008 domain with Windows 7 and Vista.. the vast majority of users over the site cannot logon as all it does is sit at 'please wait for the user profile server and then fails the logon' the error logs tell very little and I have rebooted all major servers and switches without success! and I'm frankly running out of ideas?

 

Anything I'm missing?

Check simple things next such as the location for the profiles to be stored. Test with a couple of users and point the profile to a different location. Next try the permissions on the folder.
