I have a csv file with first name, last name etc from sims. I’ve removed everything I don’t need in Excel and separated it into two csv files for the two year groups in question.

How do I go about this?

I need to create a new column with First name, First letter of surname (ie John Smith would be johns).

Then I need to prefix this to the school email address ([email protected])

in another column ready to import into Live@EDU.

Thanks for any input.

Assuming First Name is in column A and lastname is in column B - for row 2, in column C =A2&(left(b2,1)) and in column D =C2&"@school.county.sch.uk"

If you have - A1(firstname),B1(lastname),C1(domain - '@school.county.sch.uk) then:

=CONCATENATE(A1,(LEFT(B1,1)),C1)

Use this formula then copy and paste values to save as a CSV.

You need the ' before the @ to define it as text.

edit: Got distracted mid post :-)
