Smartboard being interactive on wrong screen!

Hi All

I have set up a PC with 2 monitors and a projector coming out of it. (Dual output graphics card and splitter)

That works fine. Ive got monitor 1 and the smartboard projecting the main screen with the Icons and Start menu etc and the second montior an extended desktop. The problem i have is that when i try to touch an icon on the smartboard the point appears on monitor 2 and does not select the icon on monitor 1!

Its driving me crazy!

Any ideas?

Update: When you write on the board with the pens the ink comes on the correct screen. Its just when you try to select icons with your fingers it doesnt work :S

Have you tried a different finger..........sorry awful I know but couldn't resist.

I am still looking for a solution. Have you worked it out yet?

 

I found this link on another forum, but the control panel seems unable to overide the video output settings AND orientate on multiple displays. No unfortunately did not resolve this issue! Thats the website I found but one of the options on that site solved my problem!

You could try changing which monitor is set as the primary monitor, that might work.

Thanks David. I've tried various combinations via the two control panels (Smart Configuration & Display Properties/Screen Resolution) and found no combination that works.

 

Do you have a duel screen, extended desktop setup that is working. I'd really appreciate a rundown of which settings you are using to achieve this.

 

Here's a little more info about our setup:

 

We have a duel output graphics card.

Each output is split.

One of each goes to a monitor.

One of each goes to a projector.

One projection is onto a smartboard.

One projection is onto a screen.

 

This has everyone here baffled. It all worked on Windows XP, the problem began when we installed Windows 7. Has anyone else found issues of this nature relating to which operating system you're running? I'm reluctant to believe this is the case, and that maybe we're just missing one vital setting, but I don't know what it is.

Have you oriented the board and pressed space to ensure the orient screen appears on the IWB?

Hi Meastaugh1: Yes I have done this. The orientate controls show correctly on the IWB.

 

If I do a 20 point calibration the ink layer draws perfectly, but still the finger clicks happen on the other screen.

 

I have noticed that if I set the non IWB screen as the primary monitor in Display Preferences then finger clicks work on the IWB screen however the ink layer does not work at all when picking up the pens. I would have expected the ink layer to then be on the wrong screen, but oh no, even more confusing.

@Vegas: I tried using a different finger, including chocolate and fish but they just left marks on the board. Didn't fix the problem

Strange. I've just double-checked and it does work here: cursor and ink, although I only have it setup on one Windows 7 computer in extended mode.

 

The primary screen is the monitor, the projector is secondary.

 

It's an Intel DG35EC mainboard with a cheap graphics card: Geforce 210.

 

I've included screenshots of the smart configuration, but I don't think I changed anything there:

Are you running the latest Smart Notebook 10.8? As well as more resources, it does fix a lot of bugs. I have several sites running Windows 7 SP1 and Smart Notebook 10.8 with no problems. They're all running single screen/hardware splitter configurations however!

 

Edit: Noticed from your screenshot you're running version 10.0. This is quite an old build now. Download 10.8 here

I know im a few, well, many years late. However, if anybody is still looking for a solution to this issue I have one. First you need to start the SMART board calibration. You don't need to actually calibrate the SMART board, you just need the calibration overlay on-screen. Then press crtl + space to switch your active SMART board monitor. Im not sure why there is no information on this, so I'd figure I'd share. Better late than never!

The internet is a beautiful thing. Thank you for your post. I was going crazy with this problem yesterday and couldn’t find a solution online. I’ll try your suggestion when I get in to work and let you know how it goes:)

Coming in even later to say this was the answer I needed! I hope this helps get more eyes on it if needed.
