Disabling write/save access to desktop

Hi guys me AGAIN :D,

I've just seen a few students copy an application, and paste it to the desktop hundreds of times. Obviously this will be quite amusing for the kids.. and will probably spread around school pretty quickly. Is disabling write access to the desktop a good idea, am I likely to face any problems in doing so? Secondly, how would I do so? :D I've looked around in WGM's options and details tab but to no avail. I've heard things about .plist files before but have never edited/copied one to clients using ARD. This isn't really urgent - it just frustrates me beyond belief for some odd reason! Any comments/suggestions welcome.

Change their permissions on their home folder so that the don't have write access? There won't be a specific option to disable saving .app to the Desktop.

Thanks for the reply, steve. How would I do that? Sounds to me like I would have to edit each users' home folder individually?
