sted Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 We have a few machines that drop off with trust error issue quite regularly, got any more insights re. this? no the problem went away i suspect i disabled startup repair but i honestly havnt seen the issue for a while

Start Up Repair is enabled on my staff computers, but System Restore is not and I've never had a problem with Windows 7 clients dropping off of the domain. The above MS article describes the issue. I wouldn't be surprised if Start Up Repair calls out System Restore.
slugshead Posted March 25, 2013 Author Posted March 25, 2013 We finally found a way around it.. Totally disable system protection and remove all of the backups. There is nothing for startup to attempt to repair to so the issue doesn't seem to happen. To disable the system protection this must be done whilst the machine is on a workgroup. I know if a machine dies, its a rebuild job..

Maybe it's just an urban myth now, but I shudder when I hear someone suggest using system restore, I always heard it doesn't fix anything, just takes up space and makes a mess of all your files and such... Does anyone use it and find it to be a good thing? I've always preferred the thought of doing a fresh, clean re-image than a SYSTEM RESTORE... Kol.

Kol. now i purposely enable system restore its saved me from rebuilding pcs countless times
