Cruiser_Scotland Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 Hi We have one (oldish) suite of PCs that has in the last few weeks developed a problem whereby some PCs in the room will have the taskbar/startbutton/system tray turn solid blue with no icons etc. Windows Explorer still functions to open folders etc, and keyboard shortcuts get round the problem (but some students can't cope with that). This is Windows XP. The issue appears to be random, except that it always happens on about 3 - 8 PCs within a couple of minutes of eachother. Any ideas please?!
Cruiser_Scotland Posted September 29, 2011 Author Posted September 29, 2011 No it's not. We have many other suites that haven't exhibited this problem.......
Michael Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 It sounds to me it's possibly profile related if it happens randomly, rather than specific machines or do you mean randomly always on the same machines?
Cruiser_Scotland Posted September 29, 2011 Author Posted September 29, 2011 Hi We use mandatory profiles - all students around the school use the same base profile. It happens on some Pcs more than others, but confined to one room.
Michael Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 Run delprof on all the affected machines (as a Startup script), and see if the problem goes away
