We have had a request from a small number of users to enable the "Empty deleted items on exit" function of outlook which is currently disabled by GPO. We have 2 ways of dealing with this, i can just say 'no, delete it manually' and have done with it, or i can enable for all 1300 users. there are no halfway houses!

I've had a poke around and found the offending setting in the admin templates, but i am reluctant to just enable it as i don't know if it will just wipe the user's deleted items without giving them the oportunity to say no.

I have also found the setting about "warn before emptying deleted items" and that is enabled already.

Can someone, perhaps with less users, try this setting in GPO and let me know what it's behaviour is before i let it loose?

Cheers

Silly question, but any reason not to just manually set one user to the correct registry setting and try it?

HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\ "insert version" \Outlook\Preferences

EmptyTrash

REG_DWORD

1 = empty

0 = dont
