Problems creating a trust between domains

We have our normal school domain (curriculum.local) running. I've set up a test server and dcpromo'd it as a new domain (technical.loc) in a new forest.

DNS on technical.loc has forward lookup to the DNS server on curriculum.local

I've addeds a forwarder on curriculum.local to forward DNS requests for technical.loc to the new server.

I can ping dev-2k3.technical.loc from the curriculum DC

I can ping ashnt.curriculum.local from the technical DC

 

I'm trying to configure a trust between the two domains (in order to transfer some GPO's across).

 

When I create the trust on technical.loc, it runs through fine, leaving me to validate on currculum.loc. Validation then fails as it tells me there is no DC available for technical.loc

If I attempt to create the trust on the curriculum.local machine, it still tells me there is no DC for technical.

 

nltest from curriculum also tells me there is no DC available.

 

How is it as I can ping and browse between the two networks, that Curriculum cannot recongnise technical DC?

 

I'm almost at the point of hair-tearing as I'm sure it's something very simple I'm missing!

hoe close are the clocks on the 2 dc's might just be they are too far out

Create an administrator level account in both domains with same user name and password and use this account to setup the trust.

Make sure that your DNS is correct and you can ping the DC in Domain1 from the DC in Domain2 by both name and IP
