Restoring 2003 GPO in 2008

I'm creating a sandbox 2008 environment for a "proof of concept" prior to considering migration. I've backed up the major GPO's from our live domain (2003 server), and would like to import these onto our test 2008 server

 

The problem I have, is that 2008 won't see the 2003 GPO backups

 

Has anyone tried doing this, and if so, how can it be achieved?
