Spotlight indexing network home directories.

Hi guys,

We have AD/OD bind, and users home directories are on our SAN (using SMB share).

Users are experiencing performance issues due to spotlight indexing their home directories every time they've logged on... despite leaving it running over night, it never seems to finish.

I've been investigating ways to turn indexing off and found "sudo mdutil -a -i off" not to work, also adding an apple script on logon with: "mdutil -i off ~" doesn't work.

There doesn't seem to be much on internet about this particular issue... does anyone else experience the same thing?

We do have WGM but I managed to solve it a different way.

I added 'sudo mdutil -a -i off' to apple script and adding it to login items for all computers (via WGM).

Job done ;)
